Conference Description
The Additive Manufacturing of Soft Materials GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
The Additive Manufacturing of Soft Materials Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among graduate students and post-doctoral researchers. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from a range of institutions, focusing on latest developments in the field. Additionally, a mentorship panel allows graduate students and post-doctoral researchers to learn from leaders across industry and academia. The conference is held in a remote location to allow a sense of camaraderie and foster scientific collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions, afternoon free time, and communal meals allowing informal networking opportunities with researchers in the field. This 2-day seminar (July 18-19), directly preceding the GRC, is a unique opportunity for students and early-career scientists to cultivate a collaborative network within soft material AM, with an emphasis on student development.
Next-generation soft material additive manufacturing (AM) demands the seamless integration of light-driven chemistries, biofabrication strategies, intelligent and stimuli-responsive systems, and advanced multimaterial platforms. This conference highlights emerging directions in soft matter AM, including bioprinting for medical applications, AI/ML-enabled systems-level design and optimization, and tooling innovations that support the fabrication of complex, multimaterial architectures.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below.
