Conference Description

This conference will emphasize mechanisms of angiogenesis and microvascular homeostasis and function in development, cancer, and other diseases with an angiogenic etiology. Notably, angiogenesis is one of the ‘hallmark’ capabilities thought to be necessary for manifestation of most if not all cancers, and exciting progress will be presented on elucidating regulatory and morphologic mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis and the maintenance of the tumor vasculature. Moreover, diverse therapeutic targeting strategies aimed at inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and disrupting the tumor vasculature are being developed and evaluated, based on knowledge of mechanism. Anti-angiogenic therapies are being tested in experimental systems and in clinical trials, as will be discussed during the conference.
