Keynote Session: Exploring the Therapeutic Arm of Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System
This session will focus on the therapeutic potential of the non-classical arm of RAAS. Attendees will learn about the best strategies for the development of novel therapeutics while in an academic environment and the possibilities for RAAS-research in diseases beyond hypertension.
Discussion Leader: Eve Kelland (University of Southern California, USA)

The Role of RAAS in Diseases Beyond Hypertension
For the last 40+ years, the RAAS field has focused on hypertension. Only recently has there been work done on the impact of RAAS on other diseases such as dementia, lupus and muscular dystrophy.

The RAAS in the Bioinformatics Age and Understanding Receptors and Signaling in the Classical and Non-Classical RAAS
Current research relies heavily on techniques that generate large amounts of data. New strategies are being developed in order to be able to accurately analyze this data. Top scored abstracts about how the bioinformatics age impacts research within the RAAS will be invited to present their most recent and unpublished research. Defining a single RAAS pathway has not been possible since the signaling depends on the tissue and the disease state.

Mentorship Component: Young Investigator Careers: Moving on to the Next Step
Mentorship is an important part of any scientific career, here the goal is to discuss how to find and maintain a good relationship with a mentor early on. Translational science has become a mainstay in research both in academia and industry. The main goal is how to identify a potentially innovative idea for the successful association between academia and industry.
