The Archaea: Ecology, Metabolism and Molecular Biology GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
The Gordon Research Seminar on Archaea: Ecology, Metabolism and Molecular Biology is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.
For the second time in its history, the Gordon Research Conference on Archaea: Ecology, Metabolism and Molecular Biology, will be accompanied by a Gordon Research Seminar, a specific platform aimed at early-career scientists. The focus of this meeting is to bring together young scientists from all around the globe and to promote new cross-disciplinary ideas and methods revolving around a common interest of archaeal research.
The theme of the 2023 seminar, mirroring the main conference, is centered around roots and branches of archaea. For this, the aim of this meeting is to cover a wide range of topics, such as metagenomics, cell biology, live imaging and biophysics, phylogenomics, biogeochemistry, metabolism, environmental microbiology and ecology, molecular biology and genetics, biochemistry, development of novel genetic systems, and discovery of new lineages. This is in the light of the central biological question about the origins and evolution of life, with the goal to predict its future.
This forum is a unique opportunity for graduate students, post-docs and early-career scientists to join as junior speakers to present new data and cutting edge techniques. We aim to expand on the great success of the first GRS meeting by the addition of a career workshop and extended time for collaborative discussions.
