Conference Description
Due to increased demand and pricing associated with the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the Boston area, GRC strongly encourages attendees
to make travel arrangements early to help minimize associated travel costs. We anticipate limited availability of hotel rooms,
rental cars, and transportation options departing from Boston, so please plan accordingly.
As a cost-effective transportation option, we encourage attendees to consider the GRC bus service, which can be reserved directly
through your myGRC account. Space is limited.
If you require an extended stay, please contact your COA, as GRC has secured a limited number of discounted rooms at the Embassy Suites
Boston Logan Airport.
The Bacterial Cell Surfaces GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The 2026 Gordon Research Conference on Bacterial Cell Surfaces will present cutting-edge research on the molecular mechanisms of bacterial envelope biogenesis. The conference will bring together an international group of researchers who are key contributors to the field. Sessions will highlight late-breaking discoveries spanning the breadth of the field. The conference will feature both established and early-stage investigators who are at the forefront of their research areas. Short talks will be selected from submitted abstracts, and we strongly encourage junior scientists (graduate students and post-docs) to apply for these speaking slots.
We will continue the well-received Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) that precedes the GRC and will be held June 27-28, 2026. The GRS is organized by junior scientists (graduate students and post-docs) and highlights the work of their peers. The Seminar provides a unique forum for trainees to present and exchange cutting-edge science among themselves and with leaders of the field. GRS participants will nominate several of their speakers for short talks at the GRC.
The collegial atmosphere at this conference —featuring structured discussion sessions and informal gatherings in the afternoons and evenings— encourages open scientific discussions and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, driving future progress in our fundamental understanding of the Bacterial Cell Surface.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by February 28, 2026. Please check back for updates.
