Mentorship Component: Academic Labs in the Digital Age
In this session we would like to discuss with junior investigators their journeys to becoming an independent investigator and cover topics relevant to the modern academic lab such as: The use of internet and social media for data sharing, funding, and visibility; The use of preprint services, wikis, blogs, and video journals; The use of unique funding mechanisms (e.g., crowd-sourced funding); How they run a modern lab: electronic lab notebooks, management styles, being eco-conscious; New and unique ways to engage the community online or virtually during the pandemic.
Discussion Leaders: Matthew Campbell (Trinity College Dublin, Ireland) and William Elmquist (University of Minnesota, United States)
