Conference Description
The Barriers of the CNS GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
The GRS emphasizes presentation and discussion of unpublished results related to the blood-brain barrier, meningeal barriers, blood-CSF barrier of the choroid plexus, CNS fluid flow, neuro-glio-vascular interactions, CNS immune interfaces, barrier dysfunction and repair in neurological diseases, CNS drug delivery, and other topics related to CNS barriers. With the goal of advancing translational research, the seminar will facilitate cross-disciplinary discussions of how new technologies can enable new insights into function and dysfunction of CNS barriers, and how together these advances can yield new strategies to treat neurological diseases. The program will include a keynote presentation and mentorship session on academic and industry interactions; all other presentations will be selected from submitted abstracts. A poster session and ample free time will facilitate informal interaction among participants. We strongly encourage all graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and other early career scientists to apply to attend both the GRS and the associated Gordon Research Conference.
Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by March 3, 2024. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
