Conference Description
Gordon-Kenan Research Seminars (GKRS) were brought to fruition in 1996 to foster more active participation in Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Accordingly, GKRS on Bioanalytical Sensors provides a unique setting for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to present and discuss recent research associated with the development and/or implementation of new sensors to assess biological questions. The upcoming GKRS will focus on "Recent Applications" and "Modern Instrumentation and Technical Approaches". The 2 day event intended for Ph.D. candidates and postdoctoral fellows will convene Saturday June 28, 2008, and will lead into the traditional Gordon Research Conference on Bioanalytical Sensors which begins at 6:00 PM on Sunday June 29, 2008. During the GKRS on Bioanalytical Sensors both oral and poster presentations will be scheduled. Abstracts will be screened, and all invited persons will present their research in poster format. In addition, stellar abstract contributions will be recognized by being awarded 20 minute oral presentations.
Objectives:
- Immersion in the subject of bioanalytical sensors that leads to more concrete foundations for understanding presentations of senior researchers
- Encouragement of more active participation in GRC discussions by Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows
- Promotion of professional network development that leads to enduring relationships that serve to enhance bioanalytical sensors research
