Conference Description

The GRS on Bioinspired Materials is a unique forum for graduate students and post-docs to present talks and posters in a effort to discuss new data and exchange cutting edge ideas related to bio-inspired materials, both synthetic and otherwise. Additionally, this meeting serves as a great primer for the following GRC.

We invite all applications that are related to the bio-inspired design or application of both synthetic and natural materials for any number of applications. We hope to attract a diverse, multidisciplinary field of presenters that address both cutting edge technologies and practical applications of these materials. There will be opportunities for oral and poster presentations with planned oral sessions entitled: ‘Harnessing Nature: Leveraging bio-molecular complexity in functional materials’ and ‘Inspired by Nature: Mimicking biological functionality with synthetic materials’. To conclude the meeting we will have a mentorship panel that will address the balancing act that is running a research lab; discussing areas such as handling funding, mentoring and the science.

This GRS will be held in conjunction with the "Bioinspired Materials" Gordon Research Conference (GRC). Those interested in attending both meetings must submit an application for the GRC in addition to an application for the GRS. Refer to the associated GRC program page for more information.
