Conference Description

The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on the biology of host pathogen interactions is a forum for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other junior investigators to present cutting edge data and exchange new ideas.

The 2022 GRS will focus on the molecular and cellular basis of eukaryotic parasites and their interactions with their hosts. The seminar will cover topics in parasite motility, immunology and immune evasion, drug development and resistance, metabolism, protein trafficking, gene expression and parasite evolution for a range of parasitic diseases such as malaria, leishmaniasis, trypanosomiasis and worm infections.

The program will provide young scientists with opportunities to develop scientific aptitude and peer networking in a stimulating environment at the Salve Regina University Campus in Newport, Rhode Island. Postdocs and students will present their research (talks and posters) which will also include a panel discussion on mentorship, transition to academia and job opportunities, including a Q&A segment by senior faculty mentors.
