Conversion Processes of Renewable Bio-Feedstocks Towards Valuable Building Blocks

The meeting (May 27-28, 2023) will directly precede the Gordon Research Conference Biomass to Bio-based Chemicals & Materials (May 28- June 2) at the venue Grand Summit Hotel at Sunday River, Maine, USA. Those applying to the GRS are strongly encouraged to submit an additional application to the GRC Biomass to Bio-based Chemicals & Materials.

The seminar will include poster sessions and a select number of oral presentations on the conversion of bio-resources towards the preparation of chemicals and materials. Bio-resources such as plant residue, algae and food supply chain waste contain a variety of components such as, lignocellulose, carbohydrates, proteins and other plant metabolites, suitable for transformation to chemicals or materials. Each individual combination of resource, component and target product brings their own unique challenge in catalysis, upscaling and process design. The submissions of any science and engineering activities solving such challenges in the transformation of bio-resources is highly encouraged.

The GRS will provide young researchers an opportunity to question the sustainability of biomass conversion through a panel discussion session gathering mentors from academia, industry and regular bodies. In addition, dedicated sessions will take place throughout the Seminar for expanding professional network and establishing future collaborations.
