Conference Description
The Biomineralization GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
Biomineralization is a fascinating yet complex process that drives the formation of hard tissues and structures. Understanding the mechanisms of biomineralization offers valuable insights into how living organisms utilize molecular and environmental factors to precisely control the formation of specialized materials with unique properties. While significant progress has been made in unraveling the principles behind mineral formation, our understanding remains uneven across different organisms and systems, leaving many fundamental questions unanswered. GRS 2026 aims to bring together researchers to explore not only the mechanisms of biomineralization across diverse model systems, but also to discuss how these discoveries can be applied in areas such as material science, regenerative medicine, environmental science, and beyond. By highlighting both core principles and their potential applications, we hope to spark ideas, foster collaborations, and inspire the next generation of biomineralization researchers.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below.
