Conference Description

The Gordon Research Seminar on Bones & Teeth is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

Many aspects of embryonic development are known to be reactivated during tissue repair. When considering the skeleton, it is well recognized that the initial stages of fracture callus formation reflect certain phases of endochondral bone formation, suggesting that successful regenerative strategies can be achieved by following developmental processes. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: developmental biology of the skeleton, transcriptional control of lineage determination, embryonic or stem cell model systems, genetic abnormalities leading to impaired bone development/regeneration, control of postnatal skeletal regeneration, stem cell niches, and tissue engineering strategies for cartilage and bone repair.

This GRS will be held in conjunction with the "Bones and Teeth" Gordon Research Conference (GRC). Those interested in attending both meetings must submit an application for the GRC in addition to an application for the GRS. Refer to the associated GRC program page for more information.
