Conference Description
The Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes for Glycan Conversions GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
Carbohydrate-active enzymes (CAZymes) are a broad and diverse group of enzymes that synthesize, modify and break down complex polysaccharides and are important for both human health and many industrial processes. This meeting will focus on the structural and molecular biology of these important enzymes in a wide variety of health and industrial contexts, including the discussion of novel tools to dissect enzyme mechanisms, enzyme engineering, CAZymes in diverse human microbiomes and the discovery of new CAZyme functionality in diverse ecologies. Early-career GRS attendees will have the opportunity to present and discuss their cutting-edge research in a supportive environment, building informal networks, and hence promoting full participation at the associated GRC.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below. The detailed program will be available by May 20, 2025. Please check back for updates.
