Mentorship Component: Panel Discussion
The GRS panel discussion will allow participants a period to reflect on their lives as a whole rather than solely as scientists. Senior scientists on the panel will share defining moments and decisions in their lives and discuss some of the ramifications of those life experiences for their personal and scientific lives. Practical topics like communicating research with non-scientists, cultivating friendships, maintaining family relationships, and applying research with broader impacts in mind will be covered. Insights from the discussion will serve as a fruitful source of reflection for all participants as they journey through the life stage as young scientists.
