The Cyclic Nucleotide Phosphodiesterases GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
Researchers will embark on a comprehensive journey starting from the foundational principles of phosphodiesterase (PDE) function and regulation, extending to recent advancements in understanding cyclic nucleotide signaling, and arriving at the identification of novel therapeutic targets in disease and throughout the lifespan. The seminar will also explore emerging technologies designed to unravel the complexities of cyclic nucleotide PDE signaling.
A key highlight of the GRS program will be the career mentorship session, during which speakers with extensive academic and industrial experience will provide valuable insight into professional development strategies to help navigate the ever-evolving research landscape. Early career researchers will be encouraged to actively participate in informal discussions aimed at de-mystifying the route to academic progression as well as the process of transitioning between academia and industry.
The GRS on Cyclic Nucleotide PDEs serves as a dynamic platform for attendees to present and discuss their latest research, explore emerging paradigms, and engage in mentorship opportunities to foster their career development. It will be held on the weekend immediately prior to the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Cyclic Nucleotide PDEs which brings together seasoned investigators, emerging new leaders, and trainees from academia, pharma, and biotech. GRS attendees are encouraged to also apply for the GRC in order to fully immerse themselves in the motivating environment created by the scientists moving the cyclic nucleotide PDE field forward.
Join our diverse early career researcher community to advance your knowledge, expand your scientific network, and get inspired for the next step in your professional development!
Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by March 10, 2024. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
Program Format
Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
