An Interdisciplinary Approach to Tackling Drug Resistance Across Disease States

The 2014 Gordon Conference on Drug Resistance brings together a group of scientists dedicated to understanding and overcoming the imminent and global problem of drug resistance. The Conference aims to increase our understanding of the mechanisms, propagation and control of drug resistance using a forum of open discussion of progress based on a variety of interdisciplinary approaches. Scientists studying drug resistance from a broad perspective of multiple human disease states including cancer and infectious diseases (including those caused by bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic pathogens) as well as animal and plant agroscience will present their research, promoting applications of results and resources across disease states. Speakers will present a variety of approaches to studying the emergence and mechanisms of drug resistance as well as approaches to drug discovery to tackle resistant organisms. The Conference will foster the sharing of ideas between investigators at the forefront of their field as well as postdoctoral fellows and graduate students both in speaker and poster sessions as well as informally in the afternoons and evenings.
