The Enzymes, Coenzymes and Metabolic Pathways GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
As biological catalysts, enzymes accelerate a myriad of essential chemical reactions that sustain life and play a pivotal role in various aspects of our lives, including as diagnostic tools and pharmaceuticals, and have numerous industrial applications. Studying the intricate complexity of enzymes not only deepens our understanding of biological systems but also paves the way for innovative solutions to societal challenges.
Enzymes are at the core of many metabolic pathways, allowing for their easy applications in multiple fields of biology, chemistry, and physics. This seminar is geared towards unraveling the roles of enzymes at the molecular level using a combination of wet lab and computational approaches. Discussions will cover various topics in biochemistry, biophysics, macromolecular structure, chemical biology, and metabolism as applied in the industrial, health, and environmental sectors. Through the discussions through emerging young scientists, the synergy and importance of combining wet-lab and computational approaches to understand enzyme behaviors will be explored to provide insights and a better appreciation of enzyme roles at the molecular level.
The seminar will also feature a discussion panel with industry, academia, and policy representatives to discuss topics related to current career planning and mentorship challenges. Attendees will be able to foster long-lasting professional connections in an informal setting. The GRS will also equip the attendees with tools for success during the associated Gordon Research Conference, which our attendees are strongly encouraged to attend.
