Conference Description
The Epithelial Differentiation and Keratinization GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
This seminar will survey current concepts and emerging interdisciplinary approaches in epithelial development and homeostasis, as well as disease pathogenesis and therapy. Approaches represented will include genetics, epigenetics, cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, mechanics, and pioneering technologies in bioinformatics and systems biology. The emphasis will be on the synergies of these disciplines for sparking innovative advances in epithelial biology and disease therapeutics. With the exception of the keynote, all talks will be selected from contributed abstracts by graduate students and postdocs. Top presenters will be invited to speak at the accompanying Gordon Research Conference. All participants will be able to engage with each other at poster sessions. Additionally, panel discussions will offer early-career scientists perspectives on mentoring, diversity and opportunities within and outside of academic science. Overall, this seminar will provide a platform to promote young researchers to discuss their research, network and foster a spirit of community for the next generation of epithelial biologists.
