Conference Description
The Eye Movements GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
The focus of this meeting will be on how eye movements can serve as a model system for vision, cognition, and movement. We tentatively plan the following three sessions.
Session 1: Eye Movement Signatures in Health and Disease
Eye movements are a useful model system for understanding perceptual and sensorimotor processing in health and disease. In this session, we will discuss the oculomotor control of sequential eye movements in a monkey and patient model.
Session 2: Perception and Social Function
During natural behavior, eye movements are inextricably linked to cognitive goals, perception, and attentional mechanisms. In this session, we will explore the functional link between the sensorimotor control of eye movements and perceptual mechanisms.
Session 3: Multisensory Processing for Action
Everyday goal-directed behavior requires the integration of multisensory information. In this session, we will discuss sensorimotor processing when information is integrated from different sensory organs or shared between different movement systems.
