The Hemostasis GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Program Description
The recent COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine-related thrombotic complications brought into sharp focus the importance of hemostasis to human health. These disorders also reveal the complexity of the hemostatic system and the significant knowledge gaps that remain in our understanding of its dysregulation.
The Hemostasis GRC/GRS provides a scientific forum to discuss advances in areas of blood coagulation, platelet/endothelial cell biology and fibrinolysis. First organized by hemostasis pioneers Earl W. Davie and Oscar Ratnoff in 1973, the Hemostasis GRC brings together a community of investigators interested in the biology, biochemistry, and genetics of platelets and coagulation proteins; physicians involved in the treatment of bleeding and thrombotic diseases; and scientists from small and large pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies developing new therapeutics and diagnostics for hemostatic disorders.
A key priority of the GRC/GRS is to encourage participation by women, underrepresented populations, individuals with physical disabilities, and young investigators, including graduate and postdoctoral trainees, and junior faculty.
Program Dates & Application Information
The 2024 Hemostasis GRC will be held from August 4th-9th at the Waterville Valley Conference Center, Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. The GRC is preceded by a Seminar (GRS; August 3 - 4, 2024; Waterville Valley) dedicated exclusively to trainee development and mentoring. The GRS is organized and run by trainees and requires a separate registration.
The small-format meeting of the GRC/GRS is designed to promote interactions of trainees with established investigators. As such, every attendee participates as a speaker, discussion leader, or poster presenter. All applicants are encouraged to submit an abstract for presentation at one of the scheduled poster sessions and consideration for an oral presentation at the Late-Breaking Topics session. Poster sessions are always well attended and provide a dedicated and highly-interactive forum for conversations among junior and senior investigators in the field.
Abstracts must be completed and submitted by July 6, 2024.
