Conference Description
The Heterocyclic Compounds GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
For 60 years, chemists at the interface of academic and industrial research in organic chemistry have gathered at the Heterocyclic Compounds GRC to discuss creative and innovative approaches to prepare, understand, and apply heterocycles in their research. As a unifying theme, heterocycles inspire creativity and innovation in the construction, functionalization, and skeletal editing of both novel and well-established motifs. The synthesis and diversification of heterocycles stand as distinct challenges, pushing the limits of new synthetic methodology which demand tolerance of heterocyclic functionalities for industrially relevant scope. Continued development of catalytic approaches and growth of mechanistic understanding are critical at the frontier of new method development, and late-stage transformations of drug-like molecules are emerging as particularly powerful tools. As synthetic targets, heterocyclic natural products serve as complex testing grounds for chemists in the field. The discovery, application, and scalable preparation of powerful new heterocyclic compounds continue to inspire drug hunters in the pharmaceutical industry as well as in materials and agrochemical fields of applied research.
At Heterocycles, diverse scientists from many different locations, demographics, areas of expertise, and career stages come together to inspire one another through talks, poster presentations, and networking opportunities. These interactions serve to facilitate new collaborations and create valuable connections and friendships, encouraging cooperative synergistic research relationships across traditionally disparate disciplines. Student and Postdoctoral Scholar involvement is highly encouraged and important, as the next generation of scientists brings new ideas, challenging the status quo as fully engaged conference participants and poster presenters. Short talks and poster preview talks, selected from poster abstracts, provide additional opportunities for research presentations.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by February 17, 2024. Please check back for updates.
