Integrative Methods for Advancing Genomic Medicine

The Gordon Research Seminar on Human Genetics and Genomics is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

Recent advances in biotechnology have made it possible for geneticists to intimately characterize molecular information to an unprecedented degree; from a deeper characterization of genetic variation to more comprehensive profiles of tissue or cell-specific features (e.g. transcriptomes, proteomes, epigenomes, etc.). Moreover, the increasing availability of expansive "omic" datasets and the widespread adoption of genome editing technology have the potential to resolve genetic mechanisms underlying human traits and reveal clinically actionable insights. However, integrating meaningful information across these myriad data sources presents experimental, statistical, and computational challenges that must be overcome to achieve the aims of personalized medicine. This meeting will showcase innovative research that addresses these challenges through a combination of experimental and/or computational approaches.
