Conference Description
Prior to the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Image Science, we will host a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Image Science, geared specifically towards junior researchers at the doctorate and post-doctorate levels. This unique two-day seminar enables presentation and discussion of the latest cutting-edge science generated by trainees in a friendly and supportive academic atmosphere. Each attendee is expected to present a poster, at the very least. Talks will be selected and invited by the GRS Chair and Co-Chair. The GRS enables attendees to gain a broad overview of the current state-of-the-art in Image Science, network with peers and familiarize themselves with the Gordon Conference format before joining the GRC wherein senior, renowned scientists will present world-class research.
The 2022 Image Science GRS is entitled "Image Acquisition, Processing and Visualization". These three pillars of Image Science from initial data collection, through analysis to communicating the final results, are widely employed across a broad range of disciplines. These include but are not limited to astronomy, optics, acoustics, computer science, materials, biology, electrical engineering, neuroscience, chemistry, and physics. It is our intention to emphasize the broad and interdisciplinary nature of Image Science methodologies and how the field, as a whole, will be enriched by collaboration and cross-disciplinary discussions. The GRS talks will be divided into the three sessions on Image Acquisition, Image Processing and Image Visualization following a Plenary Session on Image Science and AI.
A concerted effort has been made by the Chair and Co-Chair to organize a GRS mentorship panel for junior scientists involving conversation and discussion not only on academic career paths but also those related to industry, government, administration and entrepreneurship.
We sincerely hope you will want to join us in making the 2022 GRS on Image Science a huge success. We will strive to facilitate the principles of the Gordon Seminars in bringing together a talented community of junior scientists from diverse backgrounds and are committed to gender equality in the representation of our speakers. We look forward to receiving your application.
