Conference Description
The Immunometabolism in Health and Disease GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Metabolic programming of immune cells is now appreciated to underlie many disease states, including autoimmunity, cancer, allergy, infectious disease, atherosclerosis, neurodegenerative disease, obesity, and diabetes. Metabolic interventions are thus being actively explored in many immunologic diseases. Our understanding of the metabolic wiring of immune cells, however, is still primitive. Moreover, research findings can be sequestered within subfields of immunology, and communications between academia and industry have been limited. To disseminate new findings and promote collaborations we are assembling international experts from academia and industry on the role of cellular metabolism in the programming of myeloid and lymphoid immune cells in immunity and disease. This 2024 conference will address emerging methods, findings, and paradigms. Molecular, cellular, animal, and human data will be presented, aiming to galvanize steps forward in the mechanistic understanding of how cellular metabolism programs immune responses, and how these insights may be therapeutically targeted. We expect to foment productive, high-level discussions and new collaborations, and to create a nurturing and supportive environment for early-career investigators and trainees who represent the next generation of scientists in this critical cross-disciplinary field.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by February 17, 2024. Please check back for updates.
