Turning Research into Practice: Complexities of Industrial Ecology Implementation

The Gordon Research Seminar on Industrial Ecology is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

We are particularly interested in bridging the gap between research and practice, so that the data leads to useful, actionable results. Young investigators conducting research in concert with practitioners, other disciplines (e.g., transdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary research), or with insights from other disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply. Themes include, but are not limited to: (a) Using data to advance key sustainability outcomes (e.g., well-being, equity, resource management), (b) Connecting new data sources and analytical approaches with core industrial ecology methods (e.g., LCA, MFA, I-O), and circularity.

A special panel discussion will be organized to explore effective ways to co-produce and communicate/share knowledge and research insights with society so that it becomes practical and actionable.
