Conference Description
Meeting overview
We are excited to announce the inaugural Gordon Research Seminar in Inorganic Chemistry to coincide with the 2009 Inorganic Chemistry GRC. The Inorganic Chemistry GRS provides a unique setting for young inorganic chemists to immerse themselves in active discussions of the most cutting-edge research in their field. Modern inorganic chemistry is very diverse and includes solid state, theoretical, bioinorganic, coordination, materials and organometallic chemistry and impacts the highly multi-disciplinary areas of catalysis, energy, environment, nanoscience, biomedicine, and many more. This GRS is an informal setting for graduate students and post-doctoral associates to form professional relationships and exchange ideas on the most recent unpublished results involving important problems and innovative solutions in inorganic chemistry. We hope that the program and the informal gatherings that are an important part of the conference will inspire new ideas and promote a spirit of fellowship among participants. The meeting will be held on the Saturday and Sunday preceding the Inorganic Chemistry Gordon Research Conference. We encourage all participants to the GRS to stay for the GRC. Note that there is a separate application, registration and fee for the GRC.
Participation
The program will open with a keynote speaker, followed by ten oral presentations by graduate students and post-doctoral researchers over two days, and conclude with a Career Panel Discussion involving leaders in academia, national laboratories and industry. In addition, there will be two poster sessions on either day of the conference. Participants to the GRS will be selected from their abstract submissions. All attendees will present posters and ten of the attendees will be invited to present their research as oral presentations. The review process will be based on the quality of the abstracts and will aim to include as many areas of inorganic chemistry as possible. Every attempt will be made to maximize the diversity of topics and participants. The final program will be published after selection of the oral presentations.
