Bridging the Gap Between Molecules and Tissue: How Intermediate Filaments Affect our Health

The Gordon Research Seminar on Intermediate Filaments provides a platform for graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and other scientists, where they can present and discuss their unpublished work, exchange ideas and engage with scientists with similar experience levels.

The aim of the meeting is to bridge the gap between molecules, tissues and organisms in health and disease. Recent technological advances have led to a deeper understanding of intermediate filaments at the molecular level. Additionally, many biological functions of intermediate filaments have been extensively researched, leading to valuable insights into health and disease. However, how molecular building blocks of intermediate filaments assemble and affect biological tissue on all levels is highly complex, requiring multidisciplinary approaches to bridge these length scales.

The intention of the GRS is to form a strong community within early-stage researchers, where speakers and attendees learn from each other and shape the direction for the future of intermediate filament research.
