How Life Harnesses Disorder: Emergent Functions of IDPs in Cells, Materials and Medicine

The Gordon Research Seminar on Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The fourth GRS on IDPs will focus on how living systems exploit protein disorder to enrich their functional palette, especially in ways that transcend atomistic to macroscopic length scales. The meeting will explore several questions, including: what organizing principles explain and unify molecular and cellular IDP phenomenology? What information is encoded in the IDP primary sequence that predicts function? How can the present understandings of IDP systems be used to design new materials and medical technologies?
