Conference Description
The Ion Channels GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The 2024 Gordon Research Conference on Ion Channels will continue a long-standing tradition of convening leading researchers to share unpublished, cutting-edge research on proteins responsible for electrical signaling and ion transport. Recent major advances in structural biology, high throughout experimental methods and machine learning approaches has the potential to revolutionize biological research. This edition of the meeting will highlight how big data and other emerging approaches are providing new insights into the role of ion channels in human physiology and diseases. Our diverse panel of speakers and discussion leaders will present latest advances in understanding the biology and mechanisms of ion channel structure, gating, regulation and drug action. In addition to the regular sessions featuring distinguished speakers, the program will have slots for Short Talks selected from submitted abstracts.
Due to its size and remote location, Ion channels GRC has engendered intensive discussions between attendees and led to new collaborations. Posters sessions held each day throughout the week will further facilitate scientific discussions. Leveraging on the unique strengths of this meetings subtitle/focus, we plan to feature talks within the final GRC program, where speakers will present their latest findings while also highlighting the technology that was key for obtaining their results. This will hopefully maximize opportunities for dissemination of new technologies within the Ion Channels field. Lastly, this event will also continue to uphold our tradition of providing an inclusive and nurturing platform for trainees and early career researchers to present their best science.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by March 9, 2024. Please check back for updates.
