Conference Description
The Lactic Acid Bacteria Biology, Symbioses and Applications GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
While classically associated with food fermentations such as yogurts and sourdough breads, Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) are now recognized as critical members of different ecosystems including the beneficial microbiomes of humans, animals, and insects, with major importance in food, medicine, and industry. LAB were also key model organisms used in the development of molecular biology and industrial microbiology, providing fundamental advancements in genetics, metabolism and the discovery of CRISPR-Cas systems.
This conference will be held in Ventura, California, USA, from July 13 to 18, 2025. Session topics include LAB in the environment, LAB in the mammalian GI tract and vagina, LAB in non-mammalian systems, microbial products in health and disease, bacteriophages, and therapeutics. These sessions will cover the diverse applications of LAB to address the major health, food security, and environmental challenges of the twenty-first century. The program will also include a Power Hour open to all participants, which is designed to address the diversity and inclusion in the scientific workplace by providing a safe environment for informal and meaningful conversations amongst colleagues of all career stages.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by March 15, 2025. Please check back for updates.
