Towards Molecular Imaging In Vivo

The Gordon conference on Lasers in Medicine & Biology started in 1965, and since the 1970s has run every second year, as one of the premiere scientific meetings for creative research in this field. It provides a junction point between the fields of biomedical optics, laser and optical system development, imaging, spectroscopy, biology and medicine. The objective of this conference is to bring together international researchers from academia, hospitals and clinics, national laboratories, and industries to jointly examine how new optical technologies has revolutionized existing procedures in medical practice, provide new knowledge in biology, and pave the way for new pharmaceutical and medical procedure developments. The explicit goals of this high-impact meeting are to encourage scientific exchange between biomedical optics researchers from academic labs, clinical research, commercial enterprises and national laboratories, to critically assess the state of our field and to set goals for the future.

There are 9 technical sessions currently scheduled to provide a broad and comprehensive coverage of the biomedical photonics fields while giving in-depth examination of several rapidly developing subfields. Some sessions are technology focused, while others are biomedical need focused. The titles of the sessions are:
