Conference Description
The Lipoprotein Metabolism GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The 2024 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Lipoprotein Metabolism will be held at Waterville Valley Conference Center, NH, from June 2-7, 2024. As in previous GRC meetings on this topic, this premier, international interdisciplinary meeting will focus on the latest cutting-edge and unpublished findings on the role of lipoprotein metabolism in cardiovascular disease. We will also include state-of-the-art sessions on how lipoproteins modulate other diseases through novel insights that have been made in the areas of epidemiology, clinical studies, cellular and structural biology. We are excited to also include a session focused on new directions for therapeutic approaches that are fueled by novel basic science insights. The GRC will provide an opportunity for researchers in these fields to gain new insights into novel developments in the field of lipoprotein research, to foster interactions among scientists of all career stages in order to generate innovative questions and to develop novel experimental approaches. The Co-Chairs, Drs. Marlys Koschinsky and Daisy Sahoo, in consultation with the past chairs, the 2024 Vice Chairs (Drs. J. Mark Brown and Thomas Vallim), and subject matter experts, have developed a conference program that includes a diverse range of discussion leaders, as well as established and emerging scientists in the area of lipoprotein metabolism from institutions worldwide. The Keynote presentation will be on the role of apolipoproteins in inflammation and atherosclerosis, and a Distinguished Lecturer will present a perspective on the future of lipoprotein research. Several short talks are arranged in different sessions that include lipid signaling and intra-organelle lipid metabolism and transport, new players in the lipoprotein metabolism, new therapeutic targets and approaches, mechanistic and clinical aspects of Lp(a), lipoproteins in organ systems, state-of-the-art systems and technologies for lipoprotein research, new paradigms for lipoprotein uptake, and new horizons for lipoprotein research. The program will also incorporate short talks and posters from submitted abstracts to capture the latest research findings and provide ample presentation opportunities for trainees. The remote geographical location of the conference fosters dialogue, collaboration and friendships within this scientific community. The GRC will be preceded by the GRS on Lipoprotein Metabolism, an international forum for presentation and discussion of new frontiers in lipoprotein metabolism research by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by February 3, 2024. Please check back for updates.
