Conference Description
The Modulation of Neural Circuits and Behavior GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
The aim of this seminar is to bring together outstanding young scientists with a keen interest in neural underpinnings of behavior. The focus of the seminar is to present a wide range of approaches to understanding brain function in behavior, spanning from molecular mechanisms to complex circuit level computations. We will also highlight avenues for combining various methodologies with a goal of converging on common ideas.
Additionally, the seminar aims to empower young scientists to make informed choices regarding their professional development via panel discussions featuring successful principal investigators of diverse backgrounds and career trajectories. To encourage open communication between the participants, the program will also include engaging networking activities.
Dr. Tando Maduna will assist the GRS chairs by reaching out to the local neuroscience communities in Africa, South America, and South-East Asia to promote the participation of students and postdocs from underrepresented geographical regions. She will also work to raise a limited number of funds to help support the participation of attendees located in these areas.
