Mechanisms of Membrane Trafficking, Dynamics and Communication

The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Molecular Membrane Biology is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and innovative ideas. The GRS is an excellent opportunity to build collaborations and informal networks in a small and open atmosphere prior to the arrival of senior investigators at the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) in Molecular Membrane Biology.

The focus of this meeting is to discuss the latest advances in membrane research, including organelle biogenesis, identity and interactions, membrane trafficking, and the physical basis of membrane fission and fusion, all with an emphasis on cutting-edge methodology. The meeting will feature a keynote lecture by Nobel laureate Dr. Randy Schekman, whose lab has and continues to fundamentally shape and expand our understanding of membrane biology while his initiatives such as eLife profoundly advance the scientific community. A mentorship component is included in the GRS program that will feature a panel of young group leaders to discuss the transitions from post-doc to PI.
