Multi-Scale Approaches to Understanding Musculoskeletal Tissues

The Gordon Research Seminar on Musculoskeletal Biology and Bioengineering is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The scientific focus of this seminar will be highlighting multidisciplinary research that uses novel techniques for studying different musculoskeletal cell and tissue types as well as biological and engineering approaches to treating disease and injury. Building on and integrating with the theme of the associated GRC, this seminar will also focus on progression of research careers for emerging investigators. Specifically, the boundaries and interfaces young investigators encounter and the strategic thinking required to navigate them for both scientific and personal growth will be emphasised. To support the professional development goals of the GRS, established researchers in academia, government, industry, and the clinic will share their insight on new directions in the field and on success in maintaining successful research programs in diverse environments. Additionally, an Early-Career PI on our Career Development Panel will provide invaluable insight into the challenges faced by new PIs as modern academics. Overall, this meeting aims to support young scientists by providing scientific inspiration and mentorship to catalyze career progression.
