The 2008 Gordon Research Conference on Neural Development will take place at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, on August 17-22, 2008. The conference is an interactive environment for students and professors to exchange ideas and present recent findings on development of the nervous system. The oral presentations at the meeting will cover a range of invertebrate and vertebrate systems and describe results using multi-disciplinary approaches including molecular-genetics, imaging, and physiology. The program includes sessions on stem cells, cell fate specification, gene regulation and patterning, neuronal migration, axon pathfinding, glial development, developmental disorders of the CNS, and the formation of synapses and neuronal circuits. Poster sessions are also an important feature of the meeting where lively discussions take place and some posters will be selected for oral presentations.

Newport is a lovely summer resort, famous for its mansions, beaches and boating. Salve Regina University is beautifully located at the cliff walk within walking distance from Narragansett Bay and the city centre.
