Conference Description
The Origins of Solar Systems GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Invited speakers are from various backgrounds, including astronomy, astrophysics, cosmochemistry, and planetary sciences, to discuss interdisciplinary research at the frontier of understanding how planets and solar systems form and evolve. Discussions will include how theory, meteoritical, returned sample and astronomical observations, as well as results from spacecrafts provide complementary constraints on a range of topics, including the birth environment of the Solar System, how gas and dust in disks may be converted into planetary bodies, the origin and evolution of volatiles in disks, and the diversity of planetary system architectures. A particular focus will be on the latest findings from the sample return OSIRIS-REx and Hayabusa2 space missions to primitive solar system bodies, new results from the JWST and ground-based facilities like the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, and from theoretical investigations.
