Conference Description
The Photochemistry GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
This GRC brings together a diverse research community with broad interests in multifaceted aspects of light-mater interactions spanning from fundamental science to applied engineering. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of photochemistry and its global impacts, the program encompasses presentations on photonics and advanced spectroscopy, biophotonics and biomedical applications of light, solar-energy science and engineering, photocatalysis and photoelectrochemistry, modern optical materials and devices, and theory of excited-state dynamics. The selected speakers include internationally renowned leaders in their fields, as well as investigators at the early- and mid-stages of their careers, from a range of different countries. Graduate students and postdocs who participate in the Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Photochemistry will also have the opportunity to participate in the GRC. Via a rigorous process during the conference, two to three poster presenters will be selected to give short talks at the last session of the GRC. At the beginning of the sessions, the discussion leaders will present an overview of the particular area covered in each session in order to provide a beneficial context to the audience of attendees from a broad range of different disciplines. In addition to the ample Q/A time after each talk, panel discussions with all speakers at the end of the sessions will bring out the broad impacts of the field and its future directions for advancing the frontiers of science.
Due to limited accommodations at this venue, guest housing is very limited. To request family/guest housing please reach out to your Conference Operations Associate.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by March 29, 2025. Please check back for updates.
