Molecular Basis, Engineering and Application of Photoreceptor Proteins

The Gordon Research Seminar on Photosensory Receptors and Signal Transduction is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

This seminar will explore the most recent findings from photosensory processes, including a variety of proteins, their molecular properties, and their application such as optogenetics and bioimaging. The two-day seminar consists of one core session per day. Both of these core sessions include five oral presentations chosen from submitted abstracts and two poster sessions. The core sessions will be carried out entirely by students and postdocs. The seminar will begin with a framing keynote lecture by Prof. Peter Hegemann, a pioneer of biophysics research on photoreceptors and optogenetics. The seminar will end with a mentoring session by Dr. Eirini Kaiserli (University of Glasgow, United Kingdom) and Dr. Brian Zoltowski (Southern Methodist University, USA) for discussion of career plans of young researchers.

The abstract submission deadline for short talks is extended to February 25, 2022.
