The Polyamine GRC is a multidisciplinary conference focused on the polyamine metabolic pathway. Polyamines are small organic polycations found in virtually all archaeal, eubacterial and eukaryotic cells. The field of polyamine research thus encompasses a diverse range of topics and brings together molecular biologists, cell biologists, biochemists and chemists, working on human, animal, fungal, plant, protozoan and bacterial projects. The GRC on Polyamines (GRC) has traditionally embraced young scientists, and former chairs and vice-chairs have made it a priority to create an engaging atmosphere at all levels. To further enhance the GRC experience for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows we will organize for the first time a two-day Gordon Research Seminar on Polyamines (GRS), which will be held the 2-days immediately prior to the main Polyamine GRC conference. The GRS will focus on the same themes as the formal GRC-Polyamine Conference (Metabolism, Regulation and Physiology of Polyamines from a diverse range of organisms). The GRS will be organized by students and postdocs with guidance from a faculty advisory committee. The presence of only a few senior scientists will encourage full participation by the student/postdoc attendees.
