Exploring the Diversity of Phenomena Within the High Pressure Landscape over a Wide Range of Timescales

The Gordon Research Seminar on Research at High Pressure is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The focus of this meeting is the continued advancement of High Pressure Research as a tool for studying a wide variety of systems and materials at extreme conditions. This meeting highlights the importance of the wide-ranging timescales of our techniques, from femtosecond laser matter interactions, to picosecond quantum molecular dynamic calculations, to nanosecond laser driven shocks, to microsecond gas gun shots, to millisecond dynamic DACS, and to seconds of integration in static diamond anvil cells. Representatives of students and early career scientists (less than 5 years from completion of their PhD) will present unpublished results from the many fields in high-pressure research in an environment that aims for collaboration and interaction between the fields and techniques.
