Planning Your Visit
Salve Regina University is a beautiful seaside campus located about 80 miles south of Boston on the southeastern end of Aquidneck Island in Newport, Rhode Island. Conferees will be within walking distance of the beach, the center of historic downtown Newport, Cliff Walk, and the largest collection of restored 18th century mansions in the U.S. including the Vanderbilt’s, Doris Duke, Marble House and the Breakers.
Dress is casual at GRCs, please bring a relaxed wardrobe and comfortable shoes. We recommend you bring clothing you can layer since temperatures may be hot outside but they can become significantly cooler in the evenings. Because the poster and meeting rooms are air conditioned some conferees may want to bring a sweater with them to the technical sessions. You may also wish to bring a bathing suit, sunscreen, and bug spray for use during outdoor, informal activities.

Room Amenities
- GRC attendees stay in dormitory rooms and most attendees will share bathrooms.
- Handicap accessible rooms are available.
- Some dormitories are air-conditioned. For rooms without air-conditioning, a fan will be provided.
- Linens and towels are provided in each room, and you should plan to bring your own toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap).
- A limited number of rooms suitable for families are also available, please contact GRC for information about costs and availability.
Dining Options
The Salve Regina dining staff prepare a wide range of great food for GRC conferees. Our buffet meals always offer options for gluten-free and vegetarian diners. If you have a food allergy that we should be aware of, or require kosher meals, please let us know. All meals are served in the newly renovated, air-conditioned Miley Hall.
Arrival and Conference Essentials
Conferees are welcome to check-in on Sunday between 2:00 pm & 6:00 pm at the GRC Office in the XXXX in Miley Hall. If you arrive after the GRC office closes at 9:00pm, please check in at the Security Office located at Tobin Hall on Webster Street.
- GRC Science Sessions are held in the air-conditioned O'Hare Academic Building.

Airports, GRC Buses,
Car Rental, Arriving by Train
- Logan Airport (BOS)
Logan Airport is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Most major domestic and international airlines fly to BOS. Visit the Airport’s web site for a complete list of airlines. GRC provides a Chartered Bus service to our New England sites for conferees arriving here on Sundays (reservations are required).
- T.F. Green Airport (PVD)
T.F. Green Airport, located in Warwick, Rhode Island, is the preferred airport for domestic flights for conferences at Salve Regina University and Bryant University. Many major airlines (including American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, United, and USAir) fly to PVD. Visit the airport’s web site for a complete list of airlines. T.F. Green is not an international airport. GRC provides transportation from this airport to its Rhode Island sites for conferees arriving here on Sundays (reservations are required).
- GRC Bus
GRC, through Concord Coach Lines, provides a chartered bus service from the Embassy Suites Boston at Logan Airport in Boston, MA to Salve Regina in Newport, RI. To make use of this service, you must reserve a seat on the bus in advance no later than the Sunday prior to the conference.
