The 2005 Gordon Research Conference on "Stress Proteins in Growth, Development and Disease" will be held at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island July 17-22, 2005. This conference will emphasize the discussion of exciting developments related to stress sensing, signaling and gene expression, diseases of protein folding and conformation, roles of stress genes in metabolism, growth and development, stress gene modulation of infection and pathophysiological states, the cell biology of stress and the roles of stress in aging.

In addition, a one-day mini-symposium titled "Making Sense of HSF Mutations in Mice: Does the Field Need Another Knockout Model?" is scheduled to be held on July 16, 2005, just prior to the Gordon Conference on Stress Proteins beginning July 17. This assembly of key investigators is primarily aimed at increasing communication and coordination between different research teams, to help clarify important experimental observations, and to advance the field.
