Conference Description
The Topological and Correlated Matter GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
In recent years a breathtaking spectrum of possibilities has emerged in the study of electronic topological and correlated states of matter. On the materials front, the ability to synthesize and engineer materials with tunable exotic electronic structures, including flat bands and Van Hove singularities, has paved the way to the realization of a broad variety of topological and correlated phases. On the front of new experimental tools, novel scanning techniques have been invented, and new capabilities have been developed to study time-resolved phenomena. On the theoretical front, novel understanding has been obtained on ways to generate materials with narrow energy bands, on the correlated states that form in such bands and on the crucial role played by symmetry breaking in these states. Above this whole spectrum lies the overarching impression that we have, so far, barely touched the tip of the iceberg. This conference will aim to carve a few paths to explore uncharted territories on this iceberg.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by January 11, 2025. Please check back for updates.
