Conference Description
The Gordon Research Seminar on Vascular Cell Biology is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.
This seminar also provides young scientists
with a privileged environment for scientific exchanges, networking and career
guidance.
The 2017 Vascular Cell Biology GRS will focus
on new advances in research on the regulation of vascular network development
and function. Healthy blood vessels require coordinated regulation of
endothelial cells and the many other cell types that contribute to vessel
health, such as mural cells and immune cells. In this meeting we will discuss
the different players involved in establishing a functional vasculature and
their implication in disease states. We
will also explore how vascular cells specialize to meet the unique requirements
of different organ systems. The seminar will conclude following a panel
discussion on career development with leaders from academic, industry, and
policy arenas. The goal of this meeting is to broaden our perspective of
vascular biology in order to advance innovative research and nurture
collaborative connections. Both junior
investigators and trainees will have opportunities to interact informally and
share views with established investigators in a collegial and relaxed
atmosphere.
