Fundamental Mechanisms Underlying Health and Disease in Visual System Development

The Gordon Research Seminar on Visual System Development is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. This is a unique platform for students and postdoctoral research fellows in the visual research field to share current, unpublished research amongst their peers, in the absence of the intimidation often associated with international scientific forums. The personal nature of the GRS provides an environment in which the future leaders in vision research can abundantly communicate, connect and cultivate collaborations.

The 2016 program includes a prominent vision neuroscientist, Hugo Bellen (HHMI, Baylor College of Medicine) to deliver the keynote address. The meeting will also include three sessions totaling twelve speakers, and two 90-minute poster sessions, all of which will be selected from a wide range of fields. The overall objective of this meeting is to encourage the expanded understanding of the basic principles that drive the development and maintenance of the visual system with the anticipation that these findings lead to better treatments for ocular and other neurological diseases.
