The Water and Aqueous Solutions GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The fish can’t see the water it swims in, but we can. Sort of… We know water is important: we’re supposed to drink 2-3 liters of it a day, ~70% of our planet is covered with it, and much of the physics and chemistry we love happens in or around water. And part of why water has become such an integral part of life is because of its unique structure, but there is still so much we don’t know about its microscopic properties!
Join us for the 27th Gordon Research Conference on Water & Aqueous solutions, where we will present the leading water and aqueous solution research and discuss how the microscopic properties affect the macroscopic through biology and the atmosphere. We will begin with the most recent information regarding the structure of water, followed by cutting-edge research in water solvation/solutions, and reactions in/on water. Then, we will move into the macroscopic scale, with exciting new insights into the fields of biological water and atmospheric water. The program will feature a mixture of both theory and experimental insights, and speakers from all over the world.
This year we have placed a specific emphasis on inviting speakers and attendees from Asian countries, a region that has been underrepresented at previous Water & Aqueous Solutions GRCs. In addition, one session will be dedicated to selected poster talks, allowing even the youngest investigators a chance to present their work to the full conference. Early career investigators (graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education) are also encouraged to apply for the corresponding Gordon Research Seminar which offers more opportunities for career development and science sharing. This conference, and its associated seminar, is designed to cover a broad range of demographics, just as the topic covers a broad range of science, and we hope that there will be something for everyone!
