Conference Description
The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Biocatalysis is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. In this protected "off-record" environment, participants are encouraged to freely discuss on-going projects and unpublished data for problem solving and also to develop new collaborations and inspire scientific creativity. The GRS precedes the Gordon Research Conference on Biocatalysis, which will be held on the same location from July 6th to 11th 2014.
The focus of the GRS is on new trends in all areas of biocatalysis. It will include, but is not limited to, the applicability of the knowledge generated in academia to improve current industrial synthetic routes for process optimization. We also want to look towards the future and see how technologies such as computationally guided enzyme engineering and rapid genome sequencing can accelerate the development of an industrially relevant biological toolbox.
The GRS will consist of a keynote lecture by a leader in the field, selected poster talks and a discussion panel on career opportunities for young scientists in the transition to a professional life. In this interactive panel discussion, experts from academia and industry will answer questions from participants to provide advice and input on how to choose the right career path for their abilities and aspirations.
We hope to see you at the 2014 GRS on Biocatalysis in Rhode Island, USA.
